Belper has a pedestrianised shopping centre that is well catered for with many different shops, many of which are national chains. 

The main street includes Woolworths, Wilkinsons, Boots, New Look, various newsagents, health food shops, electrical appliance shops, motor accessories, charity shops, video library, pet shop, and shoe shops. Supermarkets in the town include Co-op, Somerfield and Morrisons and a large Focus store is located next to Morrisons.
