SCHOOLS

Primary

The nearest Primary school to the Manse is Long Row Primary School, which is a co-educational, county day school for children aged 4+ to 11+ years. The governors of Long Row Primary are committed to keeping class sizes as small as possible. On average there are about 30 pupils in each class. With the exception of the Reception children, pupils are grouped in classes of mixed ability, sex and age. Most children transfer to Belper School in the September following their 11th birthday.

Pottery Primary School is a community school for pupils of 4 – 11 years. The maximum number of new entrants to be admitted in the 4+ age group in the school year is 60.

There is also a C of E and a Catholic school within Belper as well as further schools in the vicinity.

Secondary

Belper School is an 11-18 comprehensive school for all children within the Belper area. Since 1994 the school has been a Technology College with extensive P.C. provisions for its students.

The school was opened in 1973 and is set within its own grounds and extensive playing fields on the edge of the rural town of Belper. They currently have around 1130 students on roll, including a Sixth Form of about 150.
